Non-Invasive Medical Procedure

Restore First Health offers a non-invasive medical procedure involving fluoroscopic guided injections of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to help with knee pain. Hyaluronic acid is a natural lubricating fluid that can be injected into the knee joint, more specifically, into the “Synovial Capsule”. The goal is to replace the synovial fluid in the knee, almost like an oil change.
Hyaluronic acid is a key component of the joint fluid in healthy joints, but is found in lower concentrations in osteoarthritic joints. By adding hyaluronic acid to the existing joint fluid of an osteoarthritic knee, the goal is to:
- Facilitate better knee movement
- Reduce pain
- Stimulate the body to begin normal production of synovial fluid
Candidates for Non-Surgical Knee Relief
Typical candidates for this Non-Surgical Knee Relief are people with knee osteoarthritis who have failed to improve with conservative treatments and wish to avoid total knee replacement surgery. If you have already undergone a knee replacement, you would not qualify for this procedure.
Many of our patients had previously tried the traditional “chicken shots” with a non-guided “blind” injection and were not satisfied with the results. We at Restore First Health are able to achieve higher rates of success due to the increased accuracy of our injections, the use of specialized knee bracing, and the expertise and personalized care delivered by our highly trained staff. Our results speak for themselves!
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
Restore First Health offers Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for patients seeking advanced joint injury healing for soft tissue damage. This process uses a person’s own blood taken at our medical office, then placed in a centrifuge to allow the platelets to separate from other components of the blood and concentrate them within the plasma. These platelets contain growth factors that contribute to healing within the body.
At RFH, we inject the PRP into the body tissue stimulating the healing process of soft tissue damage to the knee such as ligaments, tendons and muscles. The injection of your own activated platelets signals the body to produce more reparative cells. Most patients will feel reduction of swelling, less pain, and increase mobility within just a few injections. Patients may feel relief after the first injection but most will receive a series of 2-3 injections.
Research is showing that PRP injections can significantly reduce the need for anti-inflammatory medications or stronger medications such as opioids.
Because PRP injections utilize your own blood cells and plasma, the risk for allergic reaction is low and usually does not cause major side effects.
Prior to the injection, patients should:
- Hydrate with water
- Eat a healthy snack
- Speak to your medical provider if you are not feeling well prior to blood draw
This low-risk procedure is not currently covered by insurance. Please contact our office for an estimated cost based on your individualized medical needs.
